In 1968, 🇨🇳China was the most populous country in the world, with a total of 780,371,956 people. Followed by 🇮🇳India, with the second largest population globally of 533,431,908 people in total. The country with the lowest population count for the year was 🇻🇦Holy See with only 771 people.

The geographic region with the largest population in 1968 was Asia with a total population of 2,043,393,563 people, closely followed by Africa with a population of 346,980,009, and Europe with a population of 648,610,191 people recorded for the year.
