In 1970, 🇨🇳China was the most populous country in the world, with a total of 822,534,450 people. Followed by 🇮🇳India, with the second largest population globally of 557,501,301 people in total. The country with the lowest population count for the year was 🇻🇦Holy See with only 752 people.

The geographic region with the largest population in 1970 was Asia with a total population of 2,145,547,094 people, closely followed by Africa with a population of 365,450,108, and Europe with a population of 656,521,426 people recorded for the year.
