World Population by Country in 1988

In 1988, the world reached a total population of 5,132,293,974 and 🇨🇳China was the most populous country that year, with a total of 1,115,889,802 people. Followed by 🇮🇳India, with the second largest population globally of 833,729,681 people in total. The country with the lowest population count for the year was 🇻🇦Holy See with only 707 people.

The geographic region with the largest population in 1988 was Asia with a total population of 3,089,990,824 people, closely followed by Africa with a population of 604,511,226, and Latin America and the Caribbean with a population of 426,258,530 people recorded for the year.
